final heraldry
by the end i added many of the symbols from the tlingit tribe that is also from Juneau Alaska. i also added the bigger dipper which is the state flag of Alaska.
sorry i wasn't able to get rid of this stupid blue line... i dont know how it got on here or how to get it to go away... sorry

I traced the part of the drawing that i wanted to use and put it into a square...
I started to correct some of the errors that i had in the charcoal drawing using the burn and dodge tool.
Well, i started off with these two drawings. This first one is all pencil and the second one is charcoal...

i put the one of the hands form my charcoal drawing pointing to the capitol where i am from...

I drew this guy up really quick... it symbolizes my life the most and what keeps me going in the winter...snowboarding!!!

Hockney inspired mountain biking collage.

At this point i was trying to clean up the image getting as close as i could to teak... by now i have over a hundred layers.
I googled work of David Hockney trying to get an idea of what kind of work he does so i tried to design a scene behind the bike shots...
Luckily a week before this assignment I was able to take some sequence shots of my friend Teak... i showed him this wall-ride near my house that i had been eye-balling for a year and this day was perfect. at this point this image isn't like David Hockney at all... i simply cropped images of the sequence shots that i liked and tried to make them flow together...
At first I just wanted to get some of the techniques down and figure out how I wanted to select my individual pictures.

IBM... using the pen tool in illustrator

For this logo project i had to redesign the classic IBM logo that we all are familiar with. Its not the most interesting design, but obviously it has worked for IBM... The design has change a bit from when the company first started but for the most part it has stayed the same throughout the years.
The first thing I did was trace the I and the B the original font is called city medium, but since i didn't just want to type "IBM" and then use the scissor tool because that was the last project. The hardest part about this whole process was finding a IBM logo that wasn't to pixelated... so finding out exactly where to trace was very complicated... I had to lighten the image so i could figure out where the pixels started/ended. I also found it helpful using all the ruler and grid that Illustrator had to offer.

After I traced the I and the B i using the rectangle tool with the color white to make the streaks going through the I and the B, I also shaved the I and put two big squares using the same technique. You can also see how i lightened the original making it easier to trace.

I Traced the M, filled it blue, and extended my lines from the I and
the B through the M ......and BAM... DONE... I know it doesn't look like much but its very simple design that works well.
